Golf Australia have advised the following: _________________________________________________ Queensland Golf Club, Facility and Course Operations
At this point the advice we have received from the Queensland government is as follows;
If a course or facility is licensed then it must completely close immediately. In the majority of cases in Queensland that will mean the closure of both clubhouse and course to members and the public.
Staff and volunteers are still able to work at the facilities and on course.
Golf Australia and our industry partners are currently working hard to advocate to government for the sport to continue to be played during this crisis within Queensland and will update you with any changes. _________________________________________________
Mackay Golf Club is committed to following the best advice, and comply with Federal and State laws, during these trying times.
Because our entire premises (including the golf course) is a licensed venue, we are required to close down our Golf Club.
We, the Management and Board, are working closely with these industry bodies and lobbying Local Members of both State & Federal Parliaments and if their advice changes, we will change our operations to comply with that advice.
We know this is disappointing news. However, the health and well being of our members, staff, visitors and the greater community will always be our first priority.
The Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation are still working to clarify the following items raised by the Prime Minister on Sunday Night:
1. Reference to the exemption of isolated remote community hubs and what this term applies to. 2. The application of restrictions to outdoor spaces associated with the above venues, and if the intention was to capture outdoor spaces such as beer gardens, rather than bowls clubs and golf courses.
We understand these questions are important to you and we will update you as soon as we can. ... See MoreSee Less
Such a pity to see management not enforcing the closure 🤔.So many people on course in the weekend most practicing great social distancing😷 by being 2 in most carts. Shame on you Mackay golf club 😡😡
Same rule they applied to smoking.
Maybe they could exclude the course from the clubhouse, during these trying times, to allow people to get a little sunshine and exercise.
No that would be a common sense approach! Just saying?
Chief Health Minister said it's ok to play golf in QLD!!
Shame Queensland is the only state you can’t play golf in 😟
So no golf 🏌️♂️ then all good
