The Mackay Golf Club would like to congratulate Joseph Rickman, who completed his PGA Golf Professional traineeship on 31st Dec 2011. Over the last 3years Joseph has covered golf coaching, playing, club technology, professional skills, retail and business management. With careful guidance from Club Professional Jeff Reid, Joseph is now a qualified PGA Golf Professional.

The 2nd hole it back in play! You are asked to follow directions carefully when travelling between the temporary 1st green and the tee. Also, handicapping is being re-started as we have official course ratings from Golf Australia for the temporary Par 70 course - CCR 71 for women and 67 for men. Read more here...

The 2012 Annual General Meeting passed a motion to survey full members of the club for their opinion on the future format of the City of Mackay Pro-Am/Open. Survey forms have been mailed to every full member. Completed survey forms must be returned to the Club by 5 pm on Friday 17th February 2012. At least 51% of full members MUST respond before the results of the survey can be considered, SO PLEASE MAKE YOUR THOUGHTS HEARD, AND PROMPT YOUR FRIENDS TO DO THE SAME! DOES SLOW PLAY FRUSTRATE YOU TOO?
Slow play costs you money! Here are some tips to help speed up play. Slow play reduces the number of people who can enjoy playing in the competition. Play at a good pace, be ready to play as soon as it is your turn, move quickly to your ball between shots and keep up with the group in front. Our course is a 4-hour course, so a group of 4 players should be able to play the round in 4 hours. If every one in your group can save just 5 seconds between every stroke, you will save 30 minutes for the round, and 32 more people can play in the competition. Some tips to speed up play here...
